History and Evolution of the Annual Music Fest Gospel Singing Contest

The Annual Music Fest Gospel Singing Contest began in September 2021 with a simple, free-entry format that allowed aspiring gospel singers to register and showcase their talent. Initially, the contest involved contestants submitting videos for reviews by a panel of judges, with public votes providing additional feedback. At the end of the year, the top three winners were selected, and the contest concluded in December.
Over the years, the contest has evolved with significant changes, such as the introduction of monthly auditions in the 4th season (Year 4), ensuring that only the most qualified contestants make it to the grand finale. This strategic approach enhances the competition’s quality and provides more opportunities for aspiring gospel talents to be discovered throughout the year.
Each year, the contest is structured around specific stages that challenge participants in unique ways. These stages may include:

How to Participate in the Monthly Auditions
Contest Rules & Participation:
- Fill out the registration form on the official website.
- Receive your unique Contest ID number (e.g., 001, 002, 003, etc.).
- Submit your performance video before the registration deadline (check the countdown).
- Get a date when your video will be played live.
- Vote for your video: Voting will be open for 24 hours from the time your video goes live.
- Wait for the judges’ comments and scores.
- Qualifiers: If you qualify, congratulations! Wait until the December finals. If you don’t qualify, you can audition again in another month’s contest.
What We Look For
Judging Criteria
Judges evaluate contestants based on these criteria:
- Vocal Technique (2 Points): Quality and control.
- Musicality (1.5 Points): Pitch, rhythm, and timing.
- Stage Presence (1.5 Points): Confidence and charisma.
- Song Interpretation (1 Point): Emotional expression and understanding.
- Spiritual Content (1 Point): Gospel message relevance.
- Video Quality (1 Point): Visual production.
- Audio Quality (1 Point): Sound clarity.
- Creativity (1 Point): Unique style and arrangement.*
Total Score: 10 Points.
- Each month, auditions are held to select qualifiers who will advance to the final contest.
- Contestants can participate multiple times throughout the year unless they’ve already qualified.
